I inherited a couple of hand written letters to my great grandfather Anton Mikulic in Bellaire Ohio from I think is his sister in Bratislava.
I have no idea what they say so I need some to read them and cull out the important information. Please help!

sorry, I can't translate for you, but I was thrilled to see someone mention Bellaire, Ohio. that is where my Hanus family settled and I NEVER find anyone else searching Belmont County, Ohio. Can you tell me where your family came from and when they arrived? thank you, Betty

They came from Bohemia around 1905 or so. I'll let you know if your name comes up. Any advice on trying to find info from Bellaire? Did you know of a tornado in that area? It killed some of my family.

Thanks

A few years ago one of my sons had a job in Shadyside so I had a chance to spend a few weeks visiting him and I was able to do some research. I went to the County courthouse in St. Clairsville and found some vital records, also the library across the street and looked at films of the old newspapers. You might try writing to them and also to the health department which is in St. Clairsville also. I can't remember anything about a tornado, but there was some major flooding in one area of Belmont Co. about 2000, maybe that came on due to a tornado. Thanks for your reply, as I said, I am just thrilled to hear from someone searching in Belmont Co. Betty

The city of Bratislava is in Slovak Republic. The letters might be in Slovak instead of Czech.
MIKULIC still list in city of Bratislava's phone book.

If I send you one, would you be able to tell me what language it is?

not sure of the website name but just put in translations and see what comes up. You should be able to put in what you want translated and put in English and it should translate it for you.

Also, for Ohio there is a state research place in Columbus, Ohio don't know the address but here is the phone number (614) 466-2531.

There is also suppose to be one in Washington D.C.
phone #: (202) 647-0518.

Hope this helps. I know my Czech research has hit so many walls that its heard to get information.

Good Luck
Paula
