I know this is a long time ago and hope your still on the site here. My great grandfather was named Marquis Russell and his wife was named Jane. They were living in Missouri in the census of 1880. I would like more information to see if this is the same family. One of the children would have been Miles, who was 4 at that time and Paulee and several others.

My great great grandfather John Wally Madison and his half-brother Robert Nathaniel Graves were both listed as wards of the state living with Marquis Henderson Russell and Lucretia Jane Brasseale on the 1880's census. Their mother Eliza Malissa Brasseale was Lucretia's sister and was said to have died in an accident with John's father James W. Madison. They were sent to live with Lucretia Jane and Marquis, but thats as much as I know. I was hoping maybe you had heard stories about them? And, to answer your question, yes, it is indeed the same family.
