I am searching for the ancestors of these list of folks in my family. The word of mouth history is as follows:

Mamie Whittington Osia, ? (Uncle Bud) Whittington are sister and brother. I would like to know who are their parents.

Theresa Whittington Woodard died in Winston Salem North Carolina in 1988. She was married to Randolph Woodard of Philadelphia Pa. They had no children.

Naomi Whittington Wilder ? was married twice first to a Wilder but nobody knows his first name or whether Naomi was her first name but she was called "Omi". She is buried here somewhere in Winston-Salem North Carolina. She died in 1937 or 1938. She has a daughter who is my Grandmother who is indian and black along with the rest of the above named individuals. My grandmother remembers little about her mother Omi however, she stated that she was born Louise Wilder and changed her name to Eloise when she got grown. She married one John Leecost who is deceased in New York. He changed his name to Willie Banks along time ago and is buried under that name is New York State. John Leecost was one Lucy Dorsey Leecost and John Leecost's of Richmond Virginia. He has a living sister in Philadelphia Pa. I am also trying to find any living relatives of the Dorsey family. Lucy had two sisters: Maggie Dorsey died 1988, Martha Dorsey Yates ? deceased as well.

Today family history shapes up this way:
Eloise Wilder LeCost living

Hi,

I'm a writer working on a book about General George Custer and the Battle of the Little Big Horn. Custer's superior was Philip Sheridan, who was instrumental in the taming of the west--and the many Indian tribes it contained. So I'm trying to find out more about this relationship myself, since it may shed some light on his attitudes toward Indians.

All I know is that, when he was a young Army officer stationed in the Northwest, he supposedly lived with a "daughter of a chief of the Klikitat tribe of the Northwest" named Sidnayoh, who was also known by Frances. He lived with her for a few years, and she later visited him in Washington DC (after the Civil War) before marrying a French trader from Canada. I got this information from a few books on Sheridan. One was Phil Sheridan and His Army, by Paul Hutton. The other was (I think--can't remember right now) a more recen one by Roy Morris entitled Sheridan. They both cite some old sources that aren't too convincing to me (for instance, a book of poetry that some woman wrote about their romance a long, long time ago), so if you've got any other sources, I'd love to know of them so I can write knowledgably about the relationship.

Hope this helps. I'd really like to know any other information you have about the Sheridan-Sidnayoh relationship.

Best,

Jim Donovan

Martha-Goudy- Hoptowit is Full Yakama Indian. 1900 US Indian Census ask if she white and the answer was NO. I am trying to get family together to go to Yakama enrollment to change the blood quantum on her blood. There is also a 1930 Indian Census and it says that she is Full Yakama Indian.I know that they say she is half but no real records to back that up.
