RE Finch Township, Stormont County, Ontario
John MacMillan of Callich and Alexander MacMillan of Callich(on Loch Arkaig)(Lot 16-2 Finch) were two brothers who settled in Finch Township. Angus MacMillan of Callich(the cousin of John and Alexander) settled first on Lot 20, Conc. 1, Finch Township; his brother, Donald MacMillan of Callich, was Tacksman of Callich, buried Kilmallie graveyard, Corpach, Scotland, c 1807. Duncan Ban MacMillan(baptised Kilmallie Oct. 1783) of Glennevis, settled on Lot 23, Conc 3, Finch Township.
I descend from the daughter of John MacMillan of Callich, and from two daughters of Angus MacMillan of Callich, and from a daughter of Duncan Ban MacMillan of Glennevis.
All of the above mentioned gentlemen descended from William MacMillan 4th of Murlaggan( c 1598) a well known MacMillan Chief of Lochaber, through his son, John MacMillan of Glenpean. Loch Arkaig is not GLASGOW!!
The Lochaber MacMillan family lived within the protectionof the Cameron Clan. Many families within Finch/Avonmore area descend from the Callich/Glenpean branch of Lochaber family of MacMillans and are direct descendants of William 4th, Chief of Lochaber MacMillans.
Mr. Somerled MacMillan, historian of family, had access to family papers of my father's cousin, Cassie MacMillan(mentioned in Callich segment of 'Bygone Lochaber' by Somerled MacMillan)....Margaret Cameron, Long Sault, ONtario(daughter of J>G. Cameron, born Lot 21-4 Finch)
