what i have found on robert colquhoun was that he was sent to ireland at the age of 7 to live with his aunt nancy (colquhoun) mcauselan after his mother died. at the age of 8 he inherited the irish land grant from his father adam

According to my information Robert Colquhoun was born in Dunbarton, Scotland and was married in Corkagh, Ireland in 1641 to Katherine McAuseland. He is the first Colquhoun in my lineage to leave Scotland. I know general information about why a Scot would relocate to Ireland around this time, but I am looking for more detailed information about Robert and why he might have left.

very interested in my relatives and in coming to Scotland once

Colquhoun Clan Gathering
The annual Colquhoun Clan Gathering is always in the same week as the Luss
Highland Gathering which takes place on the third Wednesday of July each
year - in 2002 that is 17th July. The clan has a five day event around
that event and always includes its own 'gathering' at the traditional site
of Cnoc Elachan. The son of the Colquhoun Chief, Malcolm Colquhoun, Younger
of Luss and heir to the title will be at the Luss Highland Games where he
carries out the duties of Games "Chieftain". There is also a Clan
Gathering at the Games and in the evening there is a Ceilidh. On subsequent
days there are tours of the Clan lands, castles, churches and battle sites
and a visit to Loch Lomond and Inchcaillioch (or Inchmurrin) where Sir
John Colquhoun was slain by the MacLeans in the 15th century. 2003 is the
400th anniversary of the Battle in Glenfruin and there are plans for a
large Gathering and re-enactment event in Glenfruin on the weekend
19th/20th July 2003. Clan MacFarlane are coming from the USA with their

mailing lists etc. That way, any interested parties of the
Clan, Sept, or even a unique family group can always come

The posting here will also be visible for an extended period vs
the short retention time of the mailing lists.

Clan Associations postings

Dear All:

This thread/topic is intended as a forum for the
Clan to post their Notices and the Clan Associations
to post their web sites, notices of meetings and
gatherings. Even Newsletters ( by permission of the
Clan officials) are permitted here.

The correct procedure for posting here is to:
A: do a reply to this message. Erase the subject heading
above and then >
B: enter the name of your association and connection
to the clan.
C: Follow on postings are then replied to that unique
association. I would think that subject and dates
would then be appropriate subject headings.

The intention is to allow the Clan to have a thread
and each respective association to have a thread that
it can maintain with its newsletters and notices.
That way the basic thread of the association can be
referenced by URL in emails and other web sites.

Please forward this message to the Clan headquarters office,
its international associations and
other affiliated groups that may be interested in
posting here. Posting this notice to the Surnames message boards
and Surname mailing list or sending to Secretary of the
Clan, the Clan Associations and the Septs of the Clan
would also be appreciated.

Dear All:

Please start a separate sub-thread for each Clan ancestor.

The thread on this board (and the mailing list) is intended for
comments, hints on how to locate, and discussions
on those distant ancestors ( sometimes brick walls) that are
very hard to locate. Anyone with knowledge of the
Clan Ancestors or searching for ancestors and especially
the Clan Genealogist are especially encouraged to post
their finding on the Clan ancestors.

Please do not use this board for merely looking for
recent descendants. That function is better in the
Surname message boards and mailing lists.

Use the standard procedure in the subject header of
inserting your family ancestor information in the following format
NAME > location > dates
