My family is also descended from the Buchanan Family. I'm still not sure how close to James Buchanan though. But an ancestor, Catharine Buchanan was given the Last Will and Testament when this had all occurred. We also have many old letters from different Buchanans and family that branched off asking about more information concerning how they estate was to be divided and such.
