Surnames: OLIVER, BENNEY, PEARCE
My ggf, John OLIVER, was b. Cornwall 1 Mar. 1845. He arrived San Francisco in 1865 and worked the New Almaden Mine. He may have been related to James PEARCE (Superintendent of the mine) because he named my grandfather, Adrian Pearce OLIVER. John m. my ggm Ellen BENNEY (b. CA. 19 Jul 1855) in Santa Clar 15 Feb. 1873. They ended up in Grass Valley (he worked the Empire Mine) and had six children. After he retired (abt 1900) they moved to San Francisco. They are bur. at Cypress Lawn Cemetery in Colma.

Looking to connect John to parents, sibs, in Cornwall. His father was John, his mother may have been Alice.

Yvonne,
I have both Oliver's and Pearce in my family tree. My people were centered around Launceston, Cornwall, and also were from Devon.

If you wd be interested in names, I will try to get them for you. My ancestors emigrated first to Quebec, and later to the US. Finally to CA. --Kay

Hi Kay,

The PEARCES came from St. Hillary and Crowan. They married into my BENNEY family. But my GGF John OLIVER b. 1 Mar. 1845 is a mystery. The only John I found with possible dates is a John OLIVER christened 8 Jun 1845 St. Just-in-Penwith: parents John OLIVER and Elizabeth ?

Do you have a John in your file?

Yvonne
