I've been researching our Turek name for 2-3 yrs. now. My gr-grandparents came from Nova Ves, Chotebor, Bohemia in 1883 through New York. They went to Omaha, NE & in a couple yrs. homesteaded in Box Butte Co., NE. Their names were Vaclav & Katerina Turek & they came with Vaclav's brother--Josef & Barbara Turek. Josef & family moved to SD about 1895. Josef had a son, John, who had a son named Edward. My GrGrd Vaclav (also called James) had children named--Charles, John, Frank, Mary, & Annie--plus an older daughter--Frantiska born in Bohemia & came with them in 1883. James is listed in the 1900 US Census & I have found info in the Czech Immigration Passenger Lists by Leo Baca as well. Would certainly be interested in hearing from you if any of these names are familiar. Thanks. Verla Wilson

Donna: I would be very happy to obtain a copy of your map if that would be possible &/or info concerning the Turek family in Czech/Bohemia. Thanks.

Please send your email and mailing address. I am new at my scanner and I am not sure if I can get it out by email or not. My direct email address is dkazda@juno.com. Last time I sent I finally sent by mail. I am hoping it is my Kazda line but not sure. It was researched by a genealogist in Czech and he did a good job at only $250. I feel that is a good price. A Joe Turek had it done. I also know a Turek family here in Las Vegas and in Utah that are doing research. Donna

hi. My grandma used to be a Turek, and the names Edward and Thomas sound very familiar. My great grandparents were Michael and Frances. They lived in Iowa. Frances was originally from Chicago, and her parents were from Bohemia. If you know anything about them, please let me know.
Thanks, Melissa Hageman

Please send your email address and I will send the file I have. It includes several Czech names that were in the village. It was done for Joe Turek and there are many Kazda's also. Verla, In reading your message, you have names that could be very much my relatives. I have a Barbara Turek that is a sister to my gr.gr.grandfather Frantz (Frank) X. Turek, b: Dec. 3, 1825; d: Sep. 20, 1896. Their parents were Jan & Rosalie (Rozarie) (Prochazkova) Turek. The birth date I have for Barbara is Oct. 26, 1832 and her death date of Dec. 18, 1912. Does this match any of your information? I do not know any other siblings at this time to Barbara & Frank. Barbara married a Dusatko. Frank had a daughter with the name Frantiska, who married a Joseph Machon. Other children's name of Frank & Marie Turek are Antonin, Marie, Josef, Antonia, Frantisek, Jan, Anna, Josefa, Anna, Anna, Jan (John), who is my gr. grandfather. Thanks, Jackie (Turek) Caldwell
