Re: Staney schrock

Henry G. Schrock was the brother of my ggg grandfather Minter Devine Schrock. Here is a link to Henry G. Schrock's plantation daily diary. http://freepages.history.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~barrettbranc... if that link dosn't work just google hg shrock's plantation wharton county. (sometimes spelled shrock or schrock, the same people.) I believe the shrock family lived in Mississippi for a brief stint before traveling further west and settling in Texas. So that could be a hint to where Staney could have been born. This is interesting history, without a doubt our ggg grandparents knew eachother. I've came across alot of information on the Schrock family across the internet. Minter Devine Schrock lived and had children with a black woman, of them me and my family are descended. My cousin came across a relative of ours who had found and contacted our distant white cousins. They had all kinda information on the Schrock family, i'll dig around and see if any of that might be usefull to you.

I just looked at your post. I spoke to Rosie Lee once before she died. It
was a strange conversation. She was probably well on with the Dementia
by then but I was not aware of that. I spoke to her Daughter the nurse
several times but after a while she started dodging my calls so I stopped
calling her. She sent me a picture of my grandmother, Carrie which she
found in Rosie belongings which I still have.

I have a couple of questions: How do you know what year Welborn died?
My father said he died in Arizona after a fight. I cannot find a death
certificate for him.

Who are Bird, Helen, Ben F and Virgie? According to what I have
Welborn's siblings were Charlie, Albert, Ben and Georgia. I have all
their death certificates.

I did come across a Virgina Perry I think. She was listed a beneficiary
to my father's benefits from the service. I'll have to look that up and
let you know.

Joella
Hello Claudia,

I think we may have a lot to talk about. I was very surprised to see my father's
grave marker on your page, Lawrence Perry. Have you been to Swarthmore, Pa
or did someone send it to you? I also noticed you have his mother's death
certificate. My father gave me a picture of her but I don't know how to post
them online. I have not worked on the tree for a while but I have quite a
few people listed as well as a collection of death certificates from Texas.

Here's a bizarre coincidence. One of the times I called the Texas Department
of Health for a death certificate, the clerk I spoke to on the phone knew
Carrie Belle's mother, Susie Warren Dix Blackshear Jones.

Maybe we can help each other and exchange information. Thank you for the
link. It would be nice to view the death certificates online. Waiting for them
to come in the mail does slow down the research.

I havent' gotten a genealogy test yet but I do plan to. Who did yours and
would you recommend them?

I'm working graveyard tonight but I'll have my mac with me. looking forward
to hearing from you again soon.
Hi, yes, as of today I believe that I am kin to her. However, I am still investigating. I am not 100% sure that Hattie Davis was my grandmother's mother. Hattie Davis would have been Cornelia Davis' grand-daughter. Susie Blackshear Jones "Mama Susie" raised my grandmother. I ordered a DNA test just to see if I can get some better clues. Thanks!!

If you haven't already, logon https://familysearch.org/ and setup a "free" user account. That's necessary to access/print Texas Death Certificates. Cornelia Davis (age 60 - 4 Feb 1918) died in Brazos County. Parents identified as Phillip and Julia. Intrigued by possibilities, I went is search of! Found certificate of a possible brother: Joe Dorsey (3 May 1848 - 2 May 1918). See 1880 Brazos-Not Stated-022-Image 43 for Phillip Dorsey age 60. Then view 1900 Robertson-Precinct 1-District 0110-Image 1 for "Philip" Dorsey age 84.

hello: My great grandparents has the same migration pattern. Frederick Griggs was born in 1815 in Williamson county and mirgrated to Kaufman county texas. he also lived in Johnson County. My great grandmother was born in Mississippi and was on the Slaves Census in Bastrop County on a Peach Plantation. The owners were the Perry's and they kept accurate records of slave first names and when they worked. You can google Peach Plantation, in Texas. We can only guess if it is really them, because there were other female slaves on other plantations of that age and name.

I'm trying to locate information on Carrie Mae Driskill, born Wilkinson. She was the spouse of Ford Lafayette Driskill. They were apparently divorced, but I have not found documentation for that. Carrie was last found in the 1940 Census in Baird, Callahan County, with her son, Sam (Samuel Lafayette Driskill).
She has alternately been identified as Corrie.
Thanks for any information.
