searching for Fannie (Mitchell) Brown

I'm looking for information regarding Fannie (Mitchell) Brown (also known as Frances or Francis). I know that she was born in 1875 in Georgia and died 1946 in Texas, possibly in Smith County (where she is buried). Family history reveals that she was murdered by the boyfriend/husband of a relative, but I've been unable to get a death certificate for Fannie. She and her husband, Pink (1872-1952) are buried in Center Cemetary in Tyler, TX.

Also, if anyone could confirm either the names of Fannie's parents, or of any of her siblings, that would help me tremendously. I have a potential lead on her family in the 1880 Census, but I haven't been able to verify the lead.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

If you share more information, these "brickwalls" might come tumbling down? What is the potential lead on Fannie's 1880 family? What was her exact date of death? What was Pink's exact date of death? Was Pink's given name Frank? Were their children: Henry, Nancy, Augustus, Marcellus, Rufus, Nelson, John(James), Mariah, and William? If Pink died 9 Dec 1952 in Smith County then his certificate is #62830? Four Fannie Brown deaths are listed: 30 Jun 46, 11 Mar 46, 29 Aug 46, and 13 May 46 for Dallas, Galveston, Karnes, and Bee Counties. RSVP ASAP?

thank you for your help, HL2604. i'm at work right now, but will be home soon, and i'll share more information then, including my potential lead on Fannie's family. just at first glance, i don't remember a Henry, Nancy or John, but Pink & Fannie definitely had children named Augustus, Marcellus, Rufus, Nelson, James, Maria(h), and William (my great-grandfather). and i'll double-check, but i'm pretty sure that you've got the right date of death for Pink (i've got a copy of his death certificate at home).

thanks again for all of your help!

Oh yeah!!! Got to recall the jury! See 1900 Smith-Pct 7 and search for Frank (Pink) Brown. His birth listed Mar 1872. Fannie (Jun 1875), Henry (Mar 1890), Nancie(sp) (Jun 1892), Augustus (Gus) (Feb 1894), Marcellus (May 1895), Rufus/Ruford (Feb 1897), Neal/Nelson (Dec 1898), and John (May 1900). I believe John and James was the same person, since James was 10 on 1910 census. Henry and Nancy were probably married with their own families in 1910? Do I have to find them for you? My thinking is that maybe Fannie died in Dallas and was buried in Tyler? Cont'd.

http://www.houstonlibrary.org/cgi-bin/eref/eref_form The address for the Clayton Library in Houston. This facility is dedicated to genealogy and respond to online questions. Even better, they will copy death certificates for $3.00. Hint! Hint! FYI: I am in Dover, Delaware but was born and raised in Daingerfield, Texas approximately 60 miles north of Tyler. I return to Texas at least four times yearly for "hands-on" research.

Henry Brown registered for the draft in WWI. His birthdate was listed as 27 Mar 1890 which agrees with and adds to the 1900 Census information. His registration is not very legible but "Pink" is easily discernible. Get busy and live up to my initial impression!

just got home...here's what i have in my binder:
Pink Brown March 1872 - 9 Dec 1952 in Tyler, Smith, TX
Fannie Mitchell January 1875 in Georgia - 1946 in Texas
10 children: Lonnie (before 1890), Henry (March 1890), Annie (June 1892), Augustus (February 1894), Marcellus (March 1895), Rufus (February 1897), Nelse/Nelson (December 1898), James/Jimmy (May 1900), Mariah/Maria/Marie (1904), William (18 Feb 1906)
i have the 1920, 1910, and 1900 census records for Pink & Fannie and their family, and the 1880 census for Pink with his mother Maria, step-father Hiram White, aunt Ada White, and sisters Sallie and Adeline Brown.

i had originally requested a death certificate for Fannie, but i received the wrong one (right county, wrong date). i didn't know that there was a Fannie Brown who died that same year in Dallas; considering how close Dallas & Smith counties are, it may be very possible that this one may be the one. i sure hope so!
