On 6 & 7 June 1811, Mr William Douglas of Pine Barron Kentucky sold two slaves Jacob (born abt 1788 or 1785) and Dilsey (abt 1799) in Louisiana, at least one and probably both from Kentucky. Kentucky had only finally been established as separate from Virginia in 1792, and the William Douglas of Pine Barron can only be one of two, whom I believe to be the son of George and Rebecca Douglas of Wythe and nephew of James Douglas, famed early Kentucky surveyor in the era of Daniel Boone. I am trying to find information about slave holdings. (Dilsey was sold to Charles Sallier, founder of Lake Charles and went on to be called Delcy Sallier; Jacob was sold to Jacob Harry, who sold him to Dugas planter in St Martin). Super longshot
