Ok. I have found my first known ancestor's parents. (I hope) Now I need to confirm that it is in deed his parents. I believe that John Lock's (b. abt 1826/27) parents were David (b. abt 1800/01)and Betsey Lock (b. abt1802/03). I found them both the 1870 and 1880 census'. Prior to that, nothing...EXCEPT according to the Laurens County,GA Legal Records Supeior Court (1833-1857) 2 slaves, David, called Dave on occassion, and Betsey are mentioned as being owned by Leonard Lock or Thomas Lock. They went to court on several occassions fighting for the 2 slaves. So I would like to know if anyone is a descendant of Leonard Sr., Leonard Jr.,James, or Thomas Lock (Slave Owners) of Dublin Georgia. And if so, please send me an email. You could help me put the final pieces together!
