Looking for "ANY" information about the Littlejohn's

Herbert Littlejohn  (View posts) Posted: 29 Apr 2000 6:48PM GMT
I am posting on any board to connect to the Littlejohn's of North Carolina or maybe South Carolina.
Great-grandfather Vergie Littlejohn. Children, Herbert,Toynetta, Iola, Tempa, and, Geneva. His wife was Laura. I found this information in the 1900 census. I have not been able to find any more information. I would like th know if Vergie was from North Carolina or South Carolina. "HELP"

Hi,

I don't have old LITTLEJOHNs, but another great source for African American genealogical research is www.afrigeneas.com.

I have a few "new" LITTLEJOHNs who were born in the 1950s in Buffalo NY. We're related on their mother's side, not their father's and I don't know where his family was from - I believe his name was Julius. Good luck!

Sonia thank you for the information you sent. I will visit the site and maybe they can give me a start in the right direction.
Again, thanks.

Dear Mr. Littlejohn,

Have you read the book entitled "Somerset Homecoming" by Dorothy Spruill Redford? Her research brought together over two thousand descendants of the slaves who worked and lived at Somerset Place, an antebellum plantation in Washington County, North Carolina, including the descendants of Peter LITTLEJOHN b. 1782 and his wife Elsy b. 1796. Mrs. Redford is currently the curator at Somerset Place and is heading a restoration of the plantation. I believe there is a Somerset Place website. Good Luck with your search.

Check out this site:

There is a Virgie Littlejohn 1896/1958 listed in this cemetery.

I just returned from a visit at SOMERSET PLACE Web Site. My Anderson Dixon Family originated from NC; therefore, I have great interest in information from there. If any one has not "visited the site" they should, and will feel as I feel now......."overcome with emotion". Thank you for posting the info that led me there.

Hi. I see that this post is NINE years old, but if you get this, please contact me at yarsan@aol.com. I have information on Virgie Littlejohn's family. My grandfather was married to Toynetta, and they had 3 children together before she died. (Vida, Priscilla, and Fredrick) All of their children died long ago, but I can give you all of the information and more about the family.
