Okay so, on my father's line my family has information handed down to us from grandparents that goes all the way back to the last 3 slave members on my dad's side. My great grandfather's last name was Woods because as an 11yr old he was sold along with his little brother to the Woods plantation and his last name was changed from Picketts to Woods. His father's last name was Picketts because he was on the Picketts plantation. So once I go past my greatgrandfather I have to start researching the last name of Picketts. So with my great great grandfather I only know his first & last name and he was a slave on the pickett plantion. So do I start searching on slave owners by the name of Picketts in the state they were in? If I do come accross him will they still list his 2 sons before they were sold and any other children he had? Also I would like to know his wife's name too. How can I go about finding him? Thanks!
