Although we disagree on distant ancestry determining one's current "race" I must admit that your willingness to apologize and make amends to the OP has changed entirely any misperceptions I had of you. It takes a big person to do what you did.
I,too, apologize to the OP for derailing his thread. I did delete one exchange as the response no longer fit the edited message it was responding to. I won't alter anything else as I believe it is a valid message, albeit not the answer the OP was looking for.
Kboeds--I hope you are able to find the answers you are seeking. One thing that may help is to take a dna test. Ancestry's test is good but you will have to download your raw data and upload it to gedmatch.com in order to determine if you possess any african segments. Conversely, you can take 23andme's test and the chromosome browser and Ancestry Composition will tell you if you have any African ancestry. If a white person tests and is found to have African segments then it is pretty conclusive that they have an African ancestor. Good luck in your search!
