Abner Mcgehee born VA 1779 moved to GA and then to Montgomery Co Ala later became Barber Co ,Ala. He owned hundreds of slaves. By the 1860 census he still owned 60 slaves ages 98 down to age 6 months.By 1870 he is still alive on his plantation but most of his slaves are now listed separately . But living on his plantation. They are under surnames names like Cooper and Barnett. Does this ring a bell with anyone? Looking for descendants of these Mcgehee's and may be under alternate spellings of McGhee and McGee.There is a huge slave cemetery there and trying to locate who these slaves may be.Please e-mail me privately if you wish.
