I am researching my African American and
Native American OWENS families who lived in
or near Oklahoma, Ashdown (Little River Co.)
Arkansas, Spartanburg, South Carolina, and
also on the Cherokee Reservation in the
Carolinas from the early 1800s to the current
time. Please reply or contact me if you are
researching an OWENS family who are either
African American or Native American.

My father was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma (Ray Owens). He is of mixed Native-American and African-American descent. Maybe there is a possibility of a connection since I am researching his family as well.

My grandfather's name was Sam(p)son S Owens.
He lived in Clearview (Okfuskee Co.) Oklahoma
and before that in Ashdown (Little River Co.)
Arkansas and in the Carolinas. He had several
sisters and brothers. Could he be related to
your family? Did your Owens family live in
Arkansas and/or the Carolinas?

I am not African American but I am a descendent of the Owen family in North Carolina who owned slaves.

I am researching the ancestry of my Grandfather Napoleon Bonaparte Owens born in 1878. He was of African-American and possibly Native American descent. Family legend indicates Cherokee. Not certain of hes place of birth, but he was known to have lived in Tenn, Maryland and NJ. Any connection?

My grandmother was born Wessie Owens in 1915 or so. She had a brother Ralph. They were split and sent to relatives in Atlanta. They had aunts named Maddie and Maggie(?) they too must be owens'. Any info appreciated.
