A friend of mine inherited some old family papers and in them is a slave bill of sale in 1863 where a Dodson man sold a slave girl named R(h)oda. It does not say to whom, but she might have kept the name Dodson or Cochran when freed. If this helps anybody, reply to gabe.loggins@gmail.com and I can give my friend's email address.
