Is anyone researching African American families in Marion or Boone counties? My primary families are COKER and STINNETT and I have only been able to connect them to each other. My research indicates that they were mostly in the Yellville area from about the mid 1800s but one of the STINNETT brothers did live in Harrison. After Charlie Stinnett was hanged in Harrison in 1909 the families spread out between Joplin, MO and Muskogee, OK. I also suspect that they are connected to some families in Springfield, MO but have not been able to establish anything definitive.
