Surnames Sobert (Saubert, Seubert, Sober, ?), Dubois

I am searching for Andre Sobert (about 1795 -?) married (date unknown, estimated 1825) to Marie Anne Dubois (1799-?).
Marie Anne Dubois was from Quebec. Nothing is known about how or if she got to Louisiana. Andre Sobert lived in Labadieville, Assumption Parish, Louisiana, USA, but nothing is known about his origin and how he came to be in Louisiana. One son (only known child), Jean Marie Saubert (Sobert?) was born in 1830 (death date unknown), and married Marie Clemance Fremin (1832-?) in 1867.
Any help or comments will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Paul R. Sobert
prsobert@msn.com

Bouterie Brickwall

Am seeking any info on a family the spelling first appears as Boutarit, then Boutari, Boutary to any variation to Bouterie. Antoine b; 1737 marries Marie Saunier or Sonnier. I have not found him on Canadian censuses, he first appears as a prisoner in Liverpool having been expelled from Acadia. I think he was on the ship Industry - his wife's family was and the ship was refused by Virginia. From what I have read once they were boarded on the INdustry they were not allowed off until they reached Liverpool. There he appears married, I have tracked him from France to arriving on one of the 7 ships Le Saint-Remi in LA with wife and 3 small sons. He appears on the Wall of Names as Antoine Boutari. I am stuck at getting past him, there had to have been more of them, he wasn't dropped from the sky. I have poured over all online Acadia censuses, with no luck. I suspect the name's spelling was none of the above. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I should go next in seeking his parents and sibs? I have read the family is mentioned in Janet Jehn's Acadian Descendants; Volume 1. However I am unable to locate a copy of the book. Any suggestions on how to break past Antoine is welcomed. Thank you

Barbara:
I would like to exchange information with you. I've not uploaded any of my tree info to Ancestry because I consider it a work in process however I believe it would be helpful to share it with someone that has a common interest. Please e-mail me at redlnee@aol.com and perhaps we can come up with a plan.

I am a professional geneologist and have done my line back to the village in france..I have many lines like Roy, rodrigue, dozens and dozens of others.. traced it all to when they left france and were the first acadians in quebec.. i have many roys back to the 1600's.. Mathurin Roy to the 1800 Anastasine roy who married into the rodrigue family..I also hav eRichard & Bolduc and Hebert, etc etc.. I also have a Marie Salle that is supposed to be Mic Mac.. from a french and native book i found.. but many of the mic mac women / stories may not be true..I am sure somewhere down the line we have an acadian connection.. I am also from the Kumeyaay tribe.. here at the santa ysabel reservation.. quite a mix ..Karen

I do have some "Vigneau's in my tree,
1. CATHERINE1 VIGNEAU was born in 1603 in St-Germain, De Bourgeuil, Indre-Et-Loire, France. She died in 1678 in Port Royal, Acadia, Nova Scotia, Canada. She married Pierre Martin on 30 Jun 1630 in Bourgueil, Indre-et-Loire, Centre, France. He was born in 1601 in Bourgueil, Indre-et-Loire, Centre, France. He died in 1686 in Port Royal, Acadia, Nova Scotia, Canada. She was my 8th great grandmother.
My 7th great grandmother (Alexandre Roy King's 2nd great gransmother) was Marie Christine Aubois, or known as Marie of the Woods - Mic'Maq Indian. My family line immigrated from France to Bew Brunswick and Nova Scotia, commonly referred to as the Acadians. I do not know if this Catherine Vigneau ties is in with your Vigneault's, there are so many variations to the french names, and as you well know, much is lost in translation. But again, thanks for you help, I seem to recall seeing a lot of references to kumeyaayindian in my research, but there did not seem to be a connection.

Thank you very much for looking into this, but alas, it is not the right one. "My" Hermengilde was born in New Brunswick, Canada, and while his parents are listed as Alexandre Roy & Cormier, he is listed as illegitimate and native - same as this fellow. This was about the time when may french people anglecized their surnames as the King was only giving land grants to the English, so many of the children were known as Roy King, or King, and some remained Roy. Where he came up with Archie is a mystery, but his children (spefically Virginia & Louis) marriage certificates were signed by him as Archie King. I have no Vigneaults in my tree. Thanks anyway, Lynne In Alberta Canada

Hi,

Here is what I know of François Ayssene :
RELIABLE INFORMATION :
1 - son of Christian (Aix) Ayssen and Marie Isabel (?)

2- married January 17, 1788 Saint John the Baptist church, Edgard, LA (source : Baton Rouge archive, SJBED-1-25/Edgard)to Marie Therese SMITH (probably Schmidt), daughter of Christian Schmidt and Marie Dudrap.

3-1810 Assumption Census : F. Aysen (page 29, I have a copy)

4-Landclaim in the Orlean Territory for landtracts n°60&52 confirmed 1803 (extract of book send by archives in Baton Rouge)

OTHER INFO
I have seen the 1803 land plat that shows the n°60 & 52 tracts of land along Bayou Lafourche belonging to François Ayssen (name ; Francisco Assena ...) but cannot find my copy. You probably can access it also by contacting the archives in Baton ROUGE (year 1810 I think).
Name AYSSEN varies a lot : from Hizen to Aisene/Aysne/Aysen/ Haysin/Horcin ...
He was probably German or maybe from The area of Alsace/Lorraine which was French or German according to the period (it is now french).

Aysenne who died of childbirth in 1850 is not my ancestor. She is probably a sister of my ancestor Marie Anne Elisabeth Aysenne who married Michel Clause (Close) and died in june 1833, 4 days after her husband (yellow fever epidemic in the area at that time, according to the clerck at Baton Rouge archives who provided the death dates).

Pascale

Leon & Olga Saizan were my grandparents. They did have 5 children. The oldest was Glen who died at a very young age. Their second child was nicknamed Brother but his legal name was Leon Saizan Jr. he passed away a few years ago.
