I am a descendant of Catherine Lejeune & Francois Savoie through their son Germain. I am thinking that even if Catherine and Edmee were not Mi'kmac, it is then obvious that they were adopted by the Mi'kmac tribe...they were living with them. After all, it is in the 1600's and the natives did have captives that they brought up as their own.
Regardless, I would like to know of any Mikmac ancestry. Is there any proof of what ship they came here on? Is there any proof that they were born in France? or is that an assumption by the priest? Or were they trying to high the native connection?
