I have been researching my Canary Islanders ancestors of Louisiana and have come across possible Sephardic Jewish
(Converso, Marrano, Crypto-Jew) connections that may show persecutions for them during the great Spanish
Inquisition/Sephardic Jewish Holocaust, between the 1300's to 1492. Were some of these Louisiana ancestors made to
convert to Roman Catholism, with the Pope's & the Spanish King's promise of death if they did not?

History shows, the Canary Islands were Spain's only colony prior to the 1492/Americas and become a principal place for
persecuted Spanish/Sephardic Jews to flee in exile, from their centuries old homes in Spain. All Spanards in the
"pre-1492-Canary Islands" were not truly natives of the Islands, but 1492-invaders from Spain, to the Canary Islands. The
"Guanchos"(the native peoples of the Islands) were soon wiped out or sold in slavery by the Spanish Conqueors. It is
estimated that a good number of former Sephardic Jews quietly populated the new territory in exile, in fear for their lives.
Then a century later, quietly resettled in the new "Spanish Louisiana."

Maybe that is why they quietly populated Louisiana and became "Spanish Cajuns" instead who they were. Did they have
their own identity or were they still assimilating in exile? To this day many old Spanish names Louisiana do not know that
their own ancestors came from the Canary Islands, much less any thing else.

(Some sephardic researchers say that any Spanish Surname that is city/town in Spain, could be Sephardic and any Spanish
Surname ending in "ez or z", could very possibly have a hidden sephardic background.)

Please check Sephardic.com or sephardim.com on the internet and help me figure out these genealogical mysteries? Do we,
Louisiana, have a Sephardim Jewish history that connects back to Jesus, David and Abraham, spanning 2000 years? What
a great story, if so? Who knows.
