seek information beyond the year 1867 on Joseph Sebastian Dietz born Jan. 14, 1841 to Johan Georg Dietz and Anna Maria Gilch Dietz all of Eschenbach, Franconia, Bavaria, Germany. Joseph emigrated with his mother (father died 1843 in Eschebach) and 2 brothers (they were the three youngest of six) in 1853 from Bremen to Baltimore, Maryland where they went to live with the second eldest Dietz brother, Georg Peter Dietz and his family, and the eldest brother, Philipp Jacob Dietz. The third eldest brother, Johan Mathias Dietz was living in his own home at the time with his family. They are found only in the 1860 census in Baltimore city. Joseph was working as an apprentice plumber. The five older brothers worked in furniture making with Georg Peter being a designer and journeyman cabinetmaker.
I find no definitive record of Joseph after 1867 in church records where he is a godparent to a brother's child.
The five eldest Dietz brothers were all dead by 1876. Their mother survived them by six years.
I would like to find Joseph's burial place but suspect he moved away from Baltimore. I know nothing of a marriage. But would love to find such a record.
There were two other Joseph Dietz in Baltimore city to complicate matters. One was a police officer and cigar maker from Hesse.
Can anyone help me find Joseph after 1867 in Baltimore or elsewhere?
In Georg Peter's receipt book he wrote the address: Green River, Illinois. I know there was a Joseph Dietz who lived there but have been unable to prove it is the Joseph I seek.
Thanks a million for any possible lead. A death record would also be appreciated.
