German Catholic Colonies of Russia
JOHN JOSEPH SCHULTZ
b. 1881 LOZOVO RUSSIA ( On an 1882 Russian Empire map it appears in the UKRAINE an area identified as EKATERINOSLAV near POLTAVA & KHARKOV)
JOHN JOSEPH SCHULTZ sailed from HAMBURG GERMANY and arrived NEW YORK, Mar 28, 1905
He always said he was German. It wasn't until I located him in the 1920 Census and later on his Declaration of Intention for citizenship did we learn he was born in Russia.
He was Catholic and raised his children in the Catholic faith.
He settled in ST. PAUL MN

German Catholic Colonies of Russia
I found these names on a Village Plan of Krinitschki,I would like to know if I can find Village Plans for Tiegenort, Eichwald, and other surrounding Villages in this area. It is about 60 miles North of Taganrog and Mariupol,Russia.Hopefully these old Villages are still in the Ukraine as we know it today.I know these names are some of my husbands ancestorsKruschinsky,Zerf,Germin or,German. These are all in what they called the Grunau Colonies.

Re: Thomas, Heisler, Klotz, Streifel - Streifels
HELLO I know this is an old message but still giving you a try. I need help trying to find info on a Nila Streifel-married to Vincent Selzler. All anyone has is her name and no dates and info. One of her children Joseph is my husbands grandfather. We know that Joseph born in Dec 1896. We think she died soon after his birth or the following year. By 1898 Vincent was married a second time and started a new family. Can you be of help? Peggy

Re: Thomas, Heisler, Klotz, Streifel - Streifels
My Great-Grandmother was Catharina Streifel, born in 1880 in the Odessa region of Russia. Her father was John (Johannes) Streifel and they came to North Dakota in 1885. She married my Great-Grandfather, Markus Imberi when she was about 18. She had a brother, John also.
My Great-great Grandfather Johannes Streifel was married to Elisabeth Feist. Johannes and Elisabeth's children were Catharina, Mathias, Mary Anna, Franz, Barbara (who married my Great-Grandfather's brother Siegfried Imberi - the Imberi brothers married Streifel sisters)
I have pictures of Catharina Streifel (Imberi) and Barbara Streifel (Imberi) I can send if you'd like.
I have not been able to trace the Streifel family any further than Johannes (born 1848), but do have more information on the Feist side.
