Fisher
I'm trying to find my great-grandparents. I know their surname is Fisher. They owned the Bird in Hand Public House in Henley, Oxfordshire. My mother was born in this pub in1926. I cannot find any of my Fisher ancestors through normal bmd's or census. Is there a way of looking through Pubs owners records? They had two Children Named Eadle and George Fredrick.

Old Directories might be a way -

and I know there are some on Ancestry (but that costs)

I would like to trace some information about my grandfather Harry Wright who kept "The Horse and Jockey" PH in Old Park Road, Hitchin, Herts in or around the 1920's or 30's. If anyone can point me in the right direction, or has any other information, I would be most grateful.

The following two books are an excellent starting point:
J.Gibson & J.Hunter "Victuallers' Licences Records for Family and Local Historians", 2nd ed, 1997.
S.Fowler "Researching Brewery and Publican Ancestors", 2003.
As noted up-thread, local directories are incredibly useful - especially when licensing records have not survived. Consult G.Shaw & A.Tipper "British Directories: a bibliography and guide to directories published in England and Wales 1850-1950 and Scotland 1773-1950", Leicester, 2nd ed, 1997 for comprehensive lists of every known directory published. Major local libraries and county archives tend to have good holdings.
I've found all the above to be immensely useful when tracing my publican ancestors.
