Ok, I just recently did the Y46 DNA test here on Ancestry. I got one person who matches every DNA marker tested but 1. The chart says Very Close Match withing 1 to 6 generations. Seeing as we only have one marker that does not match, does that mean that it could be closer to 1 to 2 generations vs 5 to 6 generations? Or could it just as easily be within 1 generation as easily as it could be within 6 generations? I don't know about anyone else, but 6 generations seems like a monumental task to try and find someone.
Whoops, I forgot to tell you what I am looking for. I have no idea who my biological father is. I have done two DNA tests with two different men that my mother was with and both have come back as not being my birth father. So now I am at a loss as to who my biological father is. And my thinking was, maybe doing a DNA test like this I might be able to find this man. I honestly did not expect to find any close matches with this Y46 test so I was shocked to see one person who came that close.
I am also submitting my DNA results over on Family Tree DNA and doing an addition test that they require to be able to match on their website as well. I know this might be a real longshot to try and find my biological father but at this point in time, I do not have too many other options.
