Shortly after I bought the YDNA test at Ancestry.com they discontinued service for the 46marker Y dna test I purchased for my brother.
I was able to copy the numbers from that test, and I manually entered those numbers in Ysearch website. I match someone who is on that site, but don't know what to do from there.....There is nothing to click on to see who that person is, just a code number.
... So, ..... I match someone in the Rush database..... but what good does that do? I feel so ripped off....
I'm sorry for sounding so ignorant, but I just don't know how to proceed from here.
Thanks for any help you can give.

If you click on their user name it shows their contact information.

Actually you don't get contact information; you get an email for that you can use to send a message, when it is working, which isn't often!
FTDNA created YSearch but has admitted that it is currently a low priority for upgrading and maintenance.

thanks for that answer... I was feeling really dumber than usual. I had tried clicking on that code name but there was nothing "linked" to it, so it didn't do anything. Now that I understand the website itself may or may not be working, I feel better.... at least about myself, not so much about the getting ripped off part of spending a few hundred dollars for a test that is pretty much unusable....

It's best to decide what you are trying to accomplish and decide which test to take. Women should take X for grandmothers or use your brother or father's DNA to find grandfather or the family test will find thousands of cousin's :) It also helps if your surname has a website where you can compare with others. You would be surprised how many do if you look for it.

I have the Ydna test from my brother.
And I have done the "cousin" test at ancestry.com.
And I have management responsibility of "cousin" tests for two my siblings, and one 2nd cousin... . Hoping to be able to triangulate those results and find my brick wall ancestor on the Johnson side of the family.
Wishing I had some older family members to test, but being the youngest child of old parents, who were themselves the youngest child, makes it impossible....everyone is deceased!!!
