OK Thanks for getting me to understand that, just did not seem right somehow.
as for Shari she's stuck, her dad (Henry Eugene Mackay)passed away and he had no sons, worse his father (Henry Mackay SR born in 1849 in Scottland)whom we know very little was a ship captain out of San Francisco and had a large family prior to wedding Maud "Pat" Miller and had Henry Eugene Mackay and shortly after that the old man died around 1925 in San Francisco.
I'm pretty sure I found him in ancestry, (but not 100%) he had another son by the same name as Shari's father.
another stumble is the fact that Pat must have been going through tough times during the depression with a husband recently deceased and gave up Shari's father to the " Smiths " to raise him, I just found them in a 1930 census and they list him there.

guess back to waiting for the 1940 census, but that won't help much.
