HAYNES - Using DNA to solve problems

Posted: 17 May 2005 8:06PM GMT
Classification: Query
Surnames: Haynes, Hains, Hanes, Hayne, Haines
I would like to extend an invitation to anyone researching the HAYNES surname to join the HAYNES DNA Project. By participating in the project, you will be making an important contribution to the family history research of the Haynes, Hains, Hanes, Hayne, Haines, etc. families and working with others interested in finding our common heritage. The results of the project will help us validate our research, breach brick walls, identify others who are related and determine locations for further research. We will be able to establish connections between various lines, as well as identifying ancestors further back and across the ocean.

For example, I want to know if Henry Haynes (1701-1782), or Jasper Haynes (1715-1782) of Bedford County, VA are indeed brothers of my ancestor, William Haynes (1710-1781). DNA can be used to answer this issue when enough male Haynes of those lines get tested.

Although only males may test for Y-DNA, females may also join the project by having a brother, father, or male cousin with the surname tested.

You will find more information at our web page at: http://www.haynesfamily.com/DNA.htm

Let's go find our elusive ancestors.

John Haynes
