Seeking Y-DNA volunteers

The Abernathy/Abernethy Y-DNA Surname project is searching for male volunteers willing to provide a sample of their DNA for testing. Alternate surnames of interest are Bernethy, Abernethie, Abernathie, Abanatha. Other spellings may also be of interest. The lineage from your most distantly documented male ancestor must be male-only: scientifically, the Y-DNA can NOT be what we're seeking if you descend vai a female of any of these surnames.

If you descend from (especially if you have documentation) from a male Abernethy, Abernathy, or Abernathie originating from Northern Ireland prior to 1800, especially County Antrim, our Y-DNA surname project is very interested in your lineage. And we have a project fund that can be applied, in whole or in part, to your test. If you live in the United Kingdom (Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, and England) we are also very interested is your lineage: it's not always easy for us in the United States to research potential candidates in the British Isles or locations outside the United States.

If you think you may qualify, please contact us via any of the following email addresses and tell us about your lineage:
