DNA Matches who give up

I agree with others who write of the frustrations of trying to connect with people who match them but who don't bother to write back. But here's another one: people who write back only to say "I looked at your tree but didn't see any names I recognized, oh well, thanks for writing."

Drives me up the wall. I have other matches who say "let's keep at it; I think our match is going to be in such-and-such part of our trees." I really don't get the folks who just give up so easily. Especially when my Ancestry tree isn't complete (I did a decent job with it I think but my real tree is on my computer and there are still places to explore).

If someone says "my guess is our connection is *here*" then "here" is where I'm likely to put my next set of research efforts. (Even more frustrating when the match has a private tree they don't give me access to, so I can't see if there are any names *I* recognize.)

Anyone else encounter this? Thoughts?
