Threads here about the Ancestry DNA user interface keep disappearing to odd places (and not even to the deeply tucked-away "other" DNA board that few people find, alas), so hopefully this fits the recently repeated directive (what's up with that?) that "This board is for peer-to-peer discussion regarding DNA. This is NOT solely for discussion about Ancestry's DNA tests, although that is a permitted subject."
I just noticed today that we can now sort our Ancestry DNA results by All, Unread, Starred, and "Has a Hint." Yay! Now, if only more than two of my hints were showing up, that would be great, lol. But still, it's wonderful to see.
(Kelly Wheaton, as she posted over on the forums for a Certain Other DNA Company With a Number in Their Name, talked to an Ancestry rep who says the database is refreshed on Thursdays. Hopefully the missing hints will show up tomorrow.)
This hint filter will certainly aid DNA research when we get our raw data. We will know exactly who to pester first to add their data to GEDMatch! (Although I pray that somehow a segment comparison tool debuts as the same time, I'm not confident that it will.)
Speaking of GEDMatch, I wonder if anyone is working on a super-friendly tutorial for using it, so we *can* encourage the Average Ancestry User (aka people who aren't obsessed by genetic genealogy) to use it, when it's an option? (Don't look at me! I'm not there yet.)
