Hi,
I started taking the DNA tests mid summer, and I am hoping someone with some experience with DNA can shed light. I took the new test and the Y-DNA test.
On the new test I had a "hit" of someone who is a close fourth cousin, high probability. Which would mean we would share GGG Grandparent, though I am thinking the connection is my GGGG GP to their GG GP - it is still 10 degrees which (if I am reading things correctly) would still be ten degrees and would be my 3rd Cousin 2x Removed.
Based on various items (names and documents) this could be correct due to slight variations in names and guesstimating years of birth.
On the Y-DNA test, however, it indicates that the MRCA Ancestor is 15 (with a prediction of 7-15 generations)
I know none of this is an exact science, but there seems to be quite a difference.
I want to make sure I am not ignoring a more established test (Y-DNA) in an effort to make the newer DNA results "work" for me.
Thanks for any insight.
