I am still awaiting my results here, but after testing previously (myself or family members) through Family Tree DNA and 23andMe, can affirm, along with the other poster, that DNA serves as a tool in your genealogical research. It can guide and confirm, but will not do the work for you.

Perhaps you share both a maternal and paternal connection with your cousin, of which you were unaware previously.
