My husband and I are cousins according to Gedmatch but not Family Finder via FTDNA. We match on 5 chromosomes. Gedmatch gave me an estimated 3rd cousin 1x removed. We do not match on any X-chromosomes, only in the Autosomal. So, it says that only a father to son connection is possible.
This is where it gets fun - my husband is adopted, we have no information other than his DNA results. So, according to Gedmatch his relationship to me would be through his paternal line - now, my paternal line is all Mexican, Spanish, Italian, Mayan. My husband has no matches that would point to any connection there, so - should I perhaps concentrate solely on my maternal line for the connection?
What else is interesting is that both of us have a male relative showing up in our Family Finder matches. This male relative shows as a 4th cousin for me but a 5th for my husband. Could this male relative be the 'missing link' that I need to concentrate on? Any feedback would be appreciated.
