Your situation sounds very similar to mine. I am mainly trying to figure out if he is a Lemieux or a Lemire. I am pretty sure he is Lemieux and if the test were to confirm that then I am reasonable sure that he comes from one specific family. I am leaning toward Y-DNA testing since he is my direct male line and I mainly need to see which of 2 surnames he connects into, but I see what you are saying about the value of the autosomal tests in helping to solidify the conclusion. I am trying to find someone else from one of the suspected lines who has been tested or is willing to be tested since that would really make the solution clear. Thanks!
