It looks like ancestry.com rolled out a new format for the circles today; mine now shows for people who are not a "qualified" dna match to me (but are to the circle) the name of the person that they matched to get into the circle and who else in the circle had that ancestor as well ... also, there is a story line for the ancestor in the circle saying when and where born and died. Not sure whose trees this is taken from (or if all have to be the same for it to appear?). ("Qualified" means meets ancestry.com criteria...some other companies show as a match, using other criteria and chromosome browser confirmations)
Missing right now on home page for circles is the information on how many people are in each circle. That was useful as it helped tell you if someone had joined or left a circle with a quick glance...maybe it will return.
