Ancestry has no chromosome matching tools, so I HAVE NO MATCHES. Only guesses and possible matches. The only real confirmed matches are the ones I have found through GedMatch and FamilyTeeDNA. Ancestry's guesses on cousin levels are such a joke, when I look at the actual data on GedMatch or FTDNA, that I now ignore them.
I too have an extensive tree going back to the 1500s in many cases. But thinking that a shaky leaf means anything but a wild guess is naive indeed. Leaves prove NOTHING. Believing them can lead you down some very wrong paths.
Even the new "circles" are a joke. Out of my three, one has "cousins" who by chance also uploaded to GedMatch. We have a 22 cM string that triangulates to one ancestor and match less than 4 cMs anywhere else. We do not match to the 2nd ancestor except on paper. Ancestry needs to hire smarter programers.
Download your Raw Data, upload to GedMatch and/or FTDNA and move on.
