With the new Ancestry DNA results I saw a small amount of African matches, around 1%. So I figured I'd go to gedmatch and run it through the admixture tools there and found about the same across the board. Roughly 1% of African DNA on each of them. I then dug into the chromosome painter results on each and found a spot on my Chromosome 18 where each of the admixture data sets mapped to African markers. I really am not sure how to interpret this, whats more likely noise vs not etc.
Without any real knowledge I see two things:
1) That each of the data sets map the same area to African, which seems to suggest that's correct
2) The size of the match isn't huge but does seem large enough to mean something, not sure how you compare, I've tried to read up on what the tick marks represent but not completely sure. I've seen reference of "cm", do the tick marks in the painter represent that?
I attached my chromosome painter results and would greatly appreciate any feedback on it and what to look for to distinguish noise from something more significant.
