Felix had blogged several days ago about the different samples uploaded and how they are coming up as a match to current, living people.
While going through my mother's list I noticed further down on her list (which I never look at) it had two new kits that I knew Felix had uploaded, so I confirmed it with him that they were from the extinct Botocudo indian samples of Brazil.
These are what he uploaded:
Bot17,Brazil,0.4ky
Kit # F999964
mtDNA - B4a1a1
Y DNA - C-Z31878 (C1b2 - 2015)
Bot15,Brazil,0.4ky
Kit # F999963
MtDNA - B4a1a1
Y DNA - C-PH3092 (C1b2 - 2015)
Felix did confirm that the skulls were radiocarbon dated to be from around the 1600s. But this says nothing of when the Polynesian motif - B4a1a1 was introduced and somehow made it to the central Brazil area, a state where I visited and I'm well aware of the thousands of miles it is from both the Pacific and Atlantic oceans.
The only matches to these skulls are either Maoris, Hawaiians and one half Cook Island Maori person, all of whom are Eastern Polynesians which would make sense since we are the least genetically diverse.
