While waiting for your test results to be processed, please consider doing some reading up on DNa and genealogy. There are two places I like to send new people.
1. DNAAdoption.com -- this site contains lots of informational articles, links, how-to guides. While created with adoptees in mind, the information there is good for anyone wanting to learn more abou how to use DNA with genealogy.
2.
www.isogg.org/wiki/Wiki_Welcome_Page -- this wiki has lots of informaiton on DNA and genealogy. Some of the articles can get very technical very fast, but it also has enough broad information to balance it all
I also suggest reading/following bloggers. Their past articles on how they use tools and research methods can be very informative. Main ones I read are:
The Genetic Genealogist
Your Genetic Genealogist
Kitty Cooper
DNAeXplained
Legal Genealogist
Finally, last august there was a genetics genealogy conference held in DC. Most of the sessions were videotaped and they are available for purchase. Several of the sessions are good for beginners. This page has information on how to purchase them, as well as a full listing of titles (with skill levels as well): i4gg.org/pricing/
Good luck!
