I have had pretty good luck using the email handle, or the surname or the whole name and then using Jeff's wonderful tools for finding users. I have sometimes resorted to sending an email asking for their Ancestry tree name.

If Ancestry bought GedMatch, they would probably make it so FUBAR we wouldn't want to use it.
