This is on my To-Do list. I have a couple of questions about the whole process -- maybe you or someone else knows the answers.
1. I have 4 kits currently at GedMatch (1 is still being tokenized). Do I need to upload 4 different GEDCOMs or can I do one? And if just one can I still have each kit linked to a different "home person"?
2. I have quite a substantial database of people, since I've also tracked collaterals out for several lines. Would it be better to just include direct ancestors of my test people?
3. How many generations back? Several lines go well back -- beyond the usefulness for DNA. What is a good cutoff? 10 generations? 15?
4. Last year I had to create a GEDCOM from my FTM for uploading to FTDNA. The output was less than desirable. I track a lot of alternate dates and names in my file. Somehow it didn't matter what I had named as a preferred name or data -- FTM seemingly picked any one of the facts at random to be the name or date. So the results were ugly. How can I create a cleaner GEDCOM without a lot of person by person cleanup?
Thanks on advance!
