mtDNA B2 is maternal.
The prefix "mt" indicates matrilineal, as opposed to "y," which would be paternal.
I had hoped to hear from other B2s in my situation.
B2 is the only Native American maternal lineage that came across the south Pacific, via Indonesia and Oceania, to South America, where the people moved north into what became Mexico, and the United States.
The other four maternal DNA groups came from Siberia across the Bering Land Bridge, or Ice Sheet across to Alaska, and Canada and moved south.
My paternal side is from the former city of Ysleta, now part of el Paso, Texas.
Which I believe is an extension of your New Mexico Ysleta heritage.
Best of luck on your research:)
