I'm curious - anyone out there with Sicilian ancestry who has North African DNA? I'm 1/2 Sicilian and was somewhat surprised at the total lack of North African DNA in my genetic makeup due to the historical presence of the Moors/Saracens there (who would've come from Tunisia, Algeria, and/or Libya). I do have Caucasus/Middle East DNA at a combined 14%, but so do Greeks/Balkan peoples, mainland Italians, and many others throughout SE Europe and even elsewhere in Europe, and I suspect that it's very ancient admixture that predates the rise of Greece and Rome.
So am I just an outlier or is this normal for people with Sicilian ancestry to have absolutely no North African DNA?
