My ancestry DNA results weren't quite what I was expecting to see, but they were fun to review. I was sad to see that my Native American great (5x) grandmother's DNA isn't represented, but I understand she's pretty distant. There is 2% Asia in there so I guess that could be her.
I have about 15% of my results in various "Trace" regions, which seems like a lot to me!
One trace region I'm interested in is Senegal. Particularly because I'm white and I just never thought I might have African ancestry! In doing a little research about Senegal, I've learned that it was colonized by the French.
My father's family (both sides) is French, as is my maternal great-grandfather's, so that Senegal DNA could make sense!
I'd love to be able to trace back to that African ancestor.
Ancestry says to be wary of "trace" results, but geez that's 15% of my makeup!
They have gotten pretty specific about genetic regions in Africa. Is it possible for that just to be a fluke?
