So I have a question I'm perplexed about. I have a English Surname, Spencer and I can trace some of the branches back very far. Most of the people that married into it up until my Mother were of English decent. However I only show 6% English ethnicity! I would have expected much more than 6% with an English surname. I know from newspapers and court records that my 2nd great grandmother had affairs but I do not know if they occurred before my great grandfather was conceived.
Would the ethnicity of your surname result in a greater percentage than 6%?
