You and I have chatted elsewhere about this elsewhere, Kalani, but I wanted to chime in that I'm curious how Ancestry decides how to place people in the Polynesian category, too.
Of all the DNA ancestry services, AncestryDNA was the first I had seen to have a "Polynesian" category. That was a surprise and a delight, to me! Usually we have to infer Polynesian ancestry based on the presence of both Southeast Asian (or East Asian) and Oceanian.
But as you've mentioned elsewhere, something in Ancestry's calculations seems to have inadvertently grouped non-Polynesian Southeast Asians into the Polynesian category. I'd love to see them work out those kinks. Just curious - have you contacted them yet regarding your findings? Maybe we could coordinate something from the Polynesian DNA group?
