AMAZING!! Long Lost Uncle

So thought I'd share my exciting news, give a little hope to the other adoptees/adopters out there.

I sent in my DNA test a couple of months back, and noticed I had a "close relation" that didn't seem to match with my known family tree. I emailed this gentleman, and came to find out he was adopted out at only a few weeks old. He said he had some clues about his birth parents, but not much. I told him I would be happy to help, as many years ago I had found through research my own older sister who had also been adopted out at birth. So he sends me his information, and in looking through my own tree, I immediately starting realizing- he HAD to be the child of my own grandparents. No one in my family had ever heard of my grandparents giving up a child, so this came as a major shock. Both grandparents are long ago deceased, sadly.

I called my presumed Uncle, and had a nice long chat before calling my mom to break the (exciting) news. He even has our family sense of humor. He sent photos, and he and my brother Raymond could practically be twins. She agreed all the facts lined up and he looked an awful lot like many family members, but she was skeptical. So, I ordered her a DNA test kit, and the results arrived just today.

Results: Immediate Family to Close Relative.... almost certainly they are siblings! We have already arranged to meet in Ohio in just a few weeks! My Uncle is 75 years old... my mom and her sisters range from 63 to 71. After ALL THESE YEARS, they are going to be meeting for the first time. Amazing!! I can't wait to see it all happen in person. :-) Good luck in your searches, everyone!!
