For those of you who take the test and also have a sibling take the test, how well did your results match?
My sister and myself--who definitely are full sisters, same parents--differed. I am glad to get the new matches to check but surprised at how different they are.
Her ethnic makeup, per test results: 51% British Isles, 44% Scandinavian, and 5% "uncertain." Mine: 97% British Isles, 3% "uncertain." (The "uncertain" would be in reference to a family tradition of Native American. The 3% versus 5% would be critical--could I rely on it--in determining which generation had the Native American.) My sister's total matches, through "low confidence" level, 909; mine 820. We had 106 names in common on our lists.
One of my two 3rd cousin possible matches was not even anywhere on her list! I even went through her very long list of "very low confidence" pages to be sure. Additionally, one of her two 3rd cousin levels was only in my 5th to 8th level.
Our one common 3rd cousin match, however, turned out to be a major find in confirming a family tradition.
It's helpful to know what to expect, which is the reason for my posting. I am very pleased with the new tests, and wish I had more siblings to volunteer to take the tests! I also solved the above third-cousin roadblock, thanks to the test, so am not complaining, just trying to learn the ins and outs of this new test.
